MEET JOANNE HANSEN
My mission is to help leaders get to the bottom of what’s holding them back from creating the impact and results they desire.
As the daughter of a dairy farmer, I learned quickly what hard work was. I readily took this on, performing well at school, at university and eventually in the workplace. I found myself working a full-time job, an additional part-time job and studying part-time. I worked hard.
Corporate life reinforced this even more strongly for me. I saw what it took to be rewarded and advance to the next role. Passionate about supporting others to perform, I completed several coaching accreditations and coached over 200 leaders to be recognised as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation. I even went on to complete a 19 day NLP practitioner certification and a 24 day NLP master practitioner certification.
But I could see the relentless focus on performance coming at a cost all around me. I could see it fostered individual heroes, siloes, overwhelming workloads, tension across teams, diminished self-care, not to mention the pressure on relationships at home. It increasingly cost me energy, the ability to be fully present and even the time to do my best thinking.
I know there are leaders out there who want to make a big impact in the world and they also know that there must be another way than just pushing harder for results. The leaders I now support are those who are open to working differently. Those who are courageous enough to pull back from performance, those who are ready to consider how they are achieving and face what’s been really holding them back. Ironically, they find a whole new level of effortless performance, richer perspectives and better decision making. They are able to lead beyond their limits and take others with them.
